Beringer Vineyards holds the distinction of being the oldest continuously operating winery in the Napa Valley. The Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of blueberry, dark plum, baking spices, sweet licorice, brioche, and a hint of graphite. This is a serious wine, like so many wines in this vintage.

Chateau St Jean - Robert Young Vineyard Chardonnay     2011

A drop-dead gorgeous wine, the 2011 Chardonnay Robert Young Vineyard is wonderfully vivid and nuanced from start to finish. The Robert Young has a level of delineation that is impossible to miss, offers inviting aromas of fresh stone fruit, lemon zest and hints of honeysuckle blossom. The bright aromas lead to a mouth filling palate where the nose rings true with flavors of white peach, creamy lemon and hints of toasted almond. Deeper layers of vanilla, subtle spice melon and wet stone minerality add complexity. The wine has a creamy texture with bright acidity and the classic Robert Young Chardonnay long-lasting lemon oil finish.

Heitz Cellar – Napa Valley Zinfandel                2009

Heitz’s Ink Grade Vineyard in Napa Valley is perfectly suited to growing the Zinfandel grape. Situated on a rocky shale ridge, designed terraced blocks provide maximum sun exposure to nurture the fruit to full maturity. Flavors of strawberry and raspberry jam are spiced up by hints of black pepper and anise -- classic characteristics of the varietal. Medium in body, this is a balanced wine that finishes with well-integrated oak -- adding just a dash of vanilla.

This wine can be served with appetizer to dessert and pairs beautifully with spicy foods and full-flavoured Asian cuisine.

Cline –Ancient Vines Zinfandel                 2009

This wine has it roots in the Cline family’s 80 to 100 year old vines in Oakley, and has grown to include grapes sourced from California’s finest zinfandel regions. It shows wonderful, fat strawberry, with coffee and chocolate characters. Aging in new and used wood has lent this wine a subtle vanilla quality that nicely complements the explosive fruit notes and a long lingering finish.

La Crema - Sonoma Coast Chardonnay                  2009

Lively citrus and subtle toasted oak, laced with just a kiss of butterscotch. The palate is round and nutty, with flavours of yellow apple and orange adding lushness, while well-balanced acidity creates a lovely vibrancy. Hints of vanilla and caramel add richness and texture to a long, fresh finish. A good quality chardonnay.

This terrific Chardonnay is a blend of two-thirds Santa Barbara County fruit and the rest from Paso Robles and further north in Monterey. However, it is the zesty acidity, stunning purity, and delightful balance this naked Chardonnay possesses that make it so appealing
